” … You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, ‘What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!’ Mt. 8:24-27. He who can calm a “furious storm” that comes “without warning” is most certainly not surprised, nor the least bit afraid, of my storms. Nor my tiny faith. The God who created and commands all of nature calls me to know who He is, trust in His power, and rest in His love.

This blog is about my grappling with just how to do that. And a bit of musing about life when we enjoy the seasons of calm, ever so short as they may be, or even when the wind and waves toss us about.

Well over half my life I have been a wife; over 30 years now, the mother of three. Friend, most days. Daughter, not so well. Counselor, humbly honored. Christ-Follower, mostly stumbler. Spiritual Director, sacred privilege. God-Fearer, trying to figure out grace. Mistake-Maker, still trying to figure out grace. Scared Writer, like right now. Human, saved and made whole only by the grace and mercy of a God beyond my comprehension. But not beyond reach.
